My Story

From a young age, I dreamed of becoming a diplomat and moved to the United States as a high school student. However, unable to afford the tuition for law school, I temporarily returned to Japan after graduating from university.

After working for four years at a Tokyo branch of a U.S. investment bank, I successfully made my way back to the U.S.

In the end, my dream of becoming a diplomat remained just that—a dream—but through my work as a corporate lawyer in New York, I became deeply involved in international legal affairs, taking Japanese issuers public on a U.S. stock exchange and advising on U.S.-Japan mergers and acquisitions.

Later, I transitioned into investing in the Japanese market, doing everything from buyouts, venture capital investments, shareholder activism, and stepping in one of my portfolio companies as an activist CEO, leading me to where I am today.

Having set out for America with aspirations in diplomacy, it is a curious twist of fate that I now engage in private diplomacy, assisting offshore clients with M&A deals and Country Manager services to help penetrate the Japanese market.

To successfully execute their business agendas in Japan, foreign enterprises and investors need a trustworthy local Chief-of-Staff in Japan.

Every day, I aspire to be just that.
